She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church 209 Oak Street in Greenville. She served on the Kitchen Committee, Usher Board, Matrons Committee, member of the Choir, Circle No. 5 and the Community BAAM Choir. She worked in production at the Opportunity Center in Greenville and loved UK Basketball. Tonia loved being around family, people and singing in the choir. She never met a stranger and believed in the power of prayer. Tonia was the life of the party.

He was a member of the Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church 275 St Route 2533 Greenville, KY. He was employed by Cracker Barrel in Madisonville. He also served on the City Council of Greenville. Sylvester Lewis Johnson graduated from Muhlenberg South High School where he was best known for being the school mascot the “Soulman”. Following high school he attended Madisonville Community College. Sylvester (Sly) Johnson had a heart to serve and he loved all people. He spent his life giving in any capacity that he could. He never met a stranger. If he met you once he called you friend. He was loved by many. He wore many titles that include son, brother, uncle, coach, mentor, friend and now some are calling him a legend. As the songwriter penned “your candle burned out long before your legend ever will”. Sylvester Johnson will forever live-in the hearts of many.

OWENSBORO, Ky., Eurla Marie Strader Fisher, 48, of Owensboro passed away peacefully April 30, 2021. She was born in Greenville, Ky and was a current resident of Owensboro. She was a member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ in Greenville, KY. Marie loved her family dearly. They were her world. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the Lord and was a true worshipper and a relentless prayer warrior. Her faith was unwavering. She let God shine through her in everything she did and was an inspiration to many. She never had an abundance but was always ready to sacrifice to help someone in need.
Marie was preceded in death by her mother Donna O’Bannon and sister Jennifer O’Bannon.
She is survived by her husband Antonio Fisher and her children Cameron (Amber) Murphy, Andrea Murphy, Phalysha Murphy JaeDon Murphy, ZaMaury Murphy, CheNoah Fisher, and MaKayla O’Bannon (niece) all of Owensboro, 3 Grandchildren Amiyah Murphy, Raziel Murphy, and MonDreon Murphy,3 brothers James Edward O’Bannon of Greenville, Daniel O’Bannon of Greenville, and Jeffrey O’Bannon of Greenville, 2 sisters Gina Bowman of Greenville and DeSha Bowles of Madisonville.

The Muhlenberg County native was a member of Victory Temple in Central City, Kentucky. She loved her family, cooking, and was previously employed at Sparks Nursing Center & Assisted Living in Central City, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by both parents George and Victoria Nealy and her husband Willie Tyler, Jr. in 1999.

He worked as a Sawmill Operator at Associated Pallet in South Carrollton, KY for many years. He loved UK Basketball and liked hunting when he was younger.

OWENSBORO, KY., Anna Morton Johnson, 82, of Owensboro passed away in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Princeton Medical Lodge. She was born December 28, 1938. The Daviess County native church membership was sustained for many years with the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY. She ministered on the Usher Board, assisted on the Pastor’s Aide Committee, and served in the Culinary Department. In her later years, she moved to Texas to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She attended Western High School and later was employed at both GE and Westinghouse before retiring at Ragu-Unilever after 15 years of service. Her hobbies included reading, baking, spending time with her grandchildren and nieces.
Anna Laura is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Carmen Morton, 1 daughter Marilyn, 2 brothers Ernest and Robert Lee.

In addition, he was a retiree from Dollar General Store in Drakesboro and held the position of bus driver in Muhlenberg County. His hobbies included fishing, grilling, and spending time with family.

She was born May 8, 1940 of Greenville and people affectionately knew her as the “Candy Lady”. The Muhlenberg County native became a member of Eastview Baptist Church in Madisonville before moving to Greenville to care for her ailing mother. She changed her membership back home to First Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville serving on the Matrons Board, Usher Board and assisting in the Culinary Department. Her educational background consisted of attending Drakesboro Community in Drakesboro, West Kentucky Vocational Technical School in Paducah and the Muhlenberg County Vocational School in Powderly. She worked in the Hopkins County Hospital as Ward Clerk, Regional Medical Center in Medical Records and served the community as a Beautician. Her hobbies included the love of knitting, flowers, reading magazines and anything dealing with shopping.

CENTRAL CITY, KY., Charlene Parker Boyd, 57, of Central City passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born February 17, 1963. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church serving as an event planner, and dedicated choir member. She was employed by Purdue Farms and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Edward Boyd.
Survivors include 3 sons Jonathan (Janna) Boyd of Centertown, Jeremy ( Ashley) Boyd of Owensboro, and Cody (Hailey) Boyd of South Carrollton, 1 daughter Courtney Boyd of Central City, 4 grandchildren, 1 brother Darrell (Vickie) Johnson of Lima, Ohio, 2 sisters Ramona (J.R.) Parker Elrod of Greenville, and Jackie Bard of Central City, 1 uncle Charles (Loretta ) Allen of Paducah, 1 aunt Thelma Cain of Central City, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Camilla Washington, 4 brothers James Washington, Gerald Washington, Marvin Washington, and Russell Washington.

He was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Central City, KY and a Court Security Officer with the Muhlenberg County Court System.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen L. McGruder-Davis.
Survivors include 3 sons Kelly L. McGruder in Henderson, N.C., Donald L. Jr. & Timothy McGruder both of Louisville, 1 daughter Kimberly L. McGruder of Columbia, South Carolina, 8 grandchildren, 3 brothers of Indianapolis, IN, and 1 sister Charlotte, N.C.
