She was a loving child and cherished by all.

Mayfield, KY., — Ted Johnson, Jr., 88, of Mayfield departed this life Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the Jackson Purchase Medical Center in the city of Mayfield. He was born May 16, 1931 in Mayfield, KY to the late R. C. Johnson and Lucille Milliken. He was employed by Auroa in Ilinois and his favorite past time was fishing and hunting.          


Also preceding him in death 1 brother Jack Johnson, 2 sisters Cinda Caldwell and Colleen Johnson.   


He leaves behind to cherish his memories 1 son Haywood Galbreath of Los Angeles, CA., 1 daughter Cynthia Galbreath, Mayfield, 3 grandchildren, a special niece Rose (Randy) Adair, Mayfield, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, distant relatives and friends.

GREENVILLE, KY., — Larry Joe Hurt, 66, of Greenville departed this life Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at his residence in Greenville, KY. He was born April 30, 1952 in Greenville to the late Phillip Hurt and Eva Hurt.


Also, 2 brothers James Hurt and Garland Hurt preceded him in death. He was a member of Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Greenville and was a retiree from TVA. He loved to fish, play softball, work on his truck and spend time with his granddaughter and family.      

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving daughter Larvitra Hurtt of Jonesboro, GA., 1 granddaughter LaSabrae Hurtt of Springfield, TN., 1 sister Eva Nell Cheatham of Central City, several nieces, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, distant relatives and friends.

Greenville, KY., — Joyce Marie Jagoe, 69, of Louisville for a couple of years departed this life Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Sycamore Heights in Louisville, KY. She was born May 7, 1949 in Greenville to the late William Jagoe and Ranie Mae Reynolds. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville and was employed by the Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville for approximately 17 years. In her spare time, she loved the art of Culinary Baking.


She is preceded in death by 1 brother William ‘Buzz’ Jagoe.

Owensboro, KY., — Patsy Louise Glover Kelly, 75, of Owensboro departed this life Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born January 13, 1944 in Owensboro to the late Vernon Glover and Mary Alice Deal Glover. Her church membership was sustained at the Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served on the Usher Board, Willing Worker Committee, assisted joyfully in other various functions of the church and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed by the Housing Authority in the city of Owensboro, KY.

He was born November 18, 1950 in Greenville, KY to the late William Jagoe and Ranie Mae Reynolds Jagoe. Mr. Jagoe was a retiree from TVA, and he loved music, watching sports, dancing and most of all his grandchildren. He served in the United States Army.

OWENSBORO, KY., — Letetia Rochelle Wright gained her heavenly wings on December 27, 2018 at her home. She was born in Madisonville, KY on March 13 to Jeffery W. Thompson and Helen D. Wright. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Sweeney Street Baptist Church. She later joined Fourth Street Baptist Church. Letetia loved life and lived it to the fullest. She never met a stranger nor turned one away. She showed love to everyone and received it in return.

She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the First Baptist Church of Maceo and later moved her letter to the Center Street Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board and sang in the choir.  She currently attended The Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY.                                         


She was preceded in death by her parents Malcom Lewis, Sr. and Carrie Ethel Lewis, her husband Ardell Hanley, Sr., son Michael Hanley, brother Malcolm Lewis, Jr., and sister Thelma Harris.

CENTRAL CITY, KY., — Jonah Richard Christian Jr, 82 of Central City passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Ridgewood Terrence in Madisonville. He was born December 8, 1935 in Greenville to the late Jonah and Mary Christian. Mr. Christian was a member of Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Greenville. He worked as an over- the- road truck driver for Logistics Transportation, various other trucking companies and served in the Korean War while serving our country in the United States Marines.                                         


He loved his family, friends, and a very close lifetime friend Mr. George Phillips who has passed on to be with the Lord. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters Emma Jean Williams and Margaret Ann Bean. 


He leaves behind to cherish his memories 2 brothers Robert Edward (Ceil) Christian of Queens, New York and Harold (Youlanda) Christian of Evansville, IN., 2 sisters Blanche Hawkins of Central City, and Rosie Lee Mitchell of Glendale, AZ., several nieces, nephews, cousins, distant relatives and friends.

She was born March 22, 1936 in Beaver Dam, KY to the late Charles Martin and Anna Wade Martin. Mrs. Rife was a member of the Bethel Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, Drakesboro and served in the following capacities, a member of the Mother’s Board, President of the Usher Board, Women’s Missionary Society, Kitchen Committee, Green River Valley District Assoc. and Commissioned a Kentucky Colonel on May 5, 1998. Her employment consisted of Sparks Nursing Home, Muhlenberg Community Hospital, and the remainder of her career was at Belle Meade Nursing Home.


Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Rife, 1 son Rodney Rife, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church Central City and served in the following capacities Culinary Dept. actively involved with the Sunday School Dept. BTU and Vacation Bible School. Her employment consisted of Approx. 15 years with the Muhlenberg. Co. Board of Education, TVA and P& M Mines. She loved to carry on conversations and meeting people for she never met a stranger.

He was born September 10, 1935 in Greenville to the late Robert Lincoln Phillips and the late Margaret Bard Phillips. Mr. Phillips worked at the Ken Surface Mines in Rockport, KY for Approx. 29 years. He loved spending his past time having conversations at the IGA.

Anthony enlisted and served terms in both Army & Navy Branches of Service.

Billy Gene Milan, 75, of Owensboro

OWENSBORO, KY., — Billy Gene Milan, 75, of Owensboro passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Signature Hillcrest Nursing Home after a short illness. He was born in Owensboro on June 12,1942 to the late Marrine Coleman Shaw and the late Othello Millom. He attended Western High School, professed his faith at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. Sergeant Billy Gene Milan served in the U.S. Army being stationed at Fort Bragg N.C. with the 101st Airborne Division and made over 300 parachute jumps while serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post 696 and AMVETS. This Vietnam Vet completed 3 tours. Billy loved going to the VFW Post 696 every day and talking about war times. He loved fishing and collecting junk. Billy was a loving and kind person who would do anything in the world for you, if you were in need.


Billy is preceded in death by his parents Othello Millom, Sr. and Marrine Coleman Shaw and a sister Carolyn Cooper Barnes.


He  leaves behind to cherish his memories, 3 brothers Othello Millan, Jr. and  Stephen Millan both of Owensboro, KY and Anthony (Karen) Millom, Lawndale, California, 3 sisters Louella Lee and Deborah (J.T.)
